The longer I spend in real estate, the more I realise this career shapes you personally just as much as it does professionally.
When I first started, I thought success would come from knowing the market, understanding contracts, and learning how to negotiate well. And while those things absolutely matter, the biggest lessons have come from people.
This industry has taught me patience. It has taught me resilience. It has taught me how important communication really is — especially when people are stressed, emotional, excited, uncertain, or overwhelmed.
Over the years, I have sat with sellers saying goodbye to homes filled with memories.
I have celebrated with first-time buyers collecting keys to a new beginning.
I have had difficult conversations when deals fell apart at the last minute.
And I have learned that sometimes people simply need someone who will listen and guide them calmly through the process.
Real estate is often seen as “sales,” but for many of us, it is really about human connection.
I have also realised that leadership is not always loud. Sometimes leadership is showing up consistently, staying calm under pressure, encouraging others when they doubt themselves, and treating people with kindness even on the hard days.
I am still learning every day. Still growing. Still trying to become better at what I do and how I do it.
But one thing I know for certain — the relationships I have built over the years mean far more to me than any transaction ever could.
